Calculation changes feature
Understand and track all relevant methodology changes and recalculations in one place, what they are and how they affect your data.
Keeping up with calculation changes
The Calculation Changes Tracker helps you stay on top of any updates to emission calculations in Cozero. With this feature, you can understand what changed, why it changed, and how it impacts your data—before any recalculations are applied.
We give you a 4-week review window after implementation, so you have time to ask questions, review impacts, or even delay recalculations if needed. Data from Closed periods will remain locked and never be recalculated.
🔔 We just released a new and improved version of our calculation change feature. What's New?
-
Notifications you won’t miss
-
In-app + email notifications when recalculations are available
-
A reminder notification 3 days before changes are applied to org emissions
-
-
More detail, more clarity
-
Granular breakdown of data changes
-
Change indicators at the emission type level
-
Redesigned view for easier scanning and reviewing of recalculations
-
In the Calculation changes tab, you can review and track all relevant updates to emission calculations in one place. This view helps you understand exactly how your data will be affected and ensures transparency in the recalculation process.
Key elements in the view:

To review section
Shows all upcoming recalculations that require your attention. If no action is taken, the recalculation will run automatically on the Effective date. -
Change card
Each change is summarized in a card with:-
Title & description → Explanation of the fix or adjustment (e.g., correcting a calculation issue for location-based emissions).
-
Notification date & Effective date → When you were informed and when the change will be applied.
-
Impact by year → Breakdown of how the change affects emissions in each year.
-
-
Table of impacts
For each impacted year, you’ll see:-
Scope subcategory & Log category → Where the change applies.
-
Affected emissions (tCO₂e) → Old vs. new values.
-
Affected location-based emissions (tCO₂e) → Detailed breakdown of the recalculated emissions.
-
Affected energy consumption (MWh) → Any adjustments to energy data.
-
Change indicator (%) → Highlights the scale of the adjustment, whether minor, major, or corrected from zero.
-
-
Actions
You can either Apply now to trigger recalculation immediately, or allow it to run automatically on the scheduled effective date. -
Refresh & Last updated
Ensures you’re always working with the most recent update details.
Handling logs in Closed periods
Organization logs that fall within your Closed periods will not be automatically included in recalculations. This means any data you’ve locked remains unchanged, even when calculation updates are released.
If you don’t see any recalculation information in this tab, it may be because:
- Your affected data was already in a Closed period, and therefore not impacted
- Or your account was not affected by the latest calculation change
If you wish to prevent planned recalculations, you can create a Closed period to lock affected logs. This can be done at the business unit level and for the timeframe of your choice (e.g. days, months, quarters, or years).
⚠️ Important: Closed periods must be in Closed mode to lock your data. Logs in Draft closed periods are not considered locked and will be recalculated.
